What is secretome?
Every cell in the body releases a mix of substances that carry messages to the cells around it. Scientists call this mix the secretome. It includes growth factors, peptides, cytokines and tiny carriers called extracellular vesicles, of which exosomes are one type.
Stem cells are particularly active communicators, which is why stem cell secretome has become a focus of skin research. As we get older, the conversation between skin cells becomes quieter, and skin can take longer to look its best after a treatment.
